In India, the April-May months mark some of the most remarkable events of the year. The heat of the summer is often absorbed by the vacation for the students, for some, it also gives relief from the hectic study season for the board examinations. The icing on the cake is the co-incidence of all this with one of the most followed cricketing event of the country, Indian Premier League (IPL).
Not just the fans from across the world turn their eyes to India during the periods, the cricketing stars from all over the globe take a flight to the sub-continent for the cash-rich IPL.
2020 will mark the 13th edition of the league and after 12 successful editions of the richest cricket league in the world, the 13th edition as promising as ever. In December all the eight franchises of the league closed their open slots and added armors to their armory on December 19 when they sat down in Kolkata for the players’ auction and tried their best to overpower every other franchise on papers before they lock horns on the field in the 13th season of the Indian Premier League
The players’ auction on December 19 threw some surprises and some shockers to the fans as well as the players.

So far the board has only announced a tentative starting schedule for the tournament with the season beginning with a high voltage encounter between defending champions Mumbai Indians and arch-rivals and runners up of the previous season Chennai Super Kings on March 29 in Mumbai.
The second game of the season will be played between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab in Delhi on March 30. The third match will be played on March 31 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. Other than this the board has not released the official schedule for the tournament.
An All-stars game is also expected to be played a couple of days ahead of the official inauguration of the tournament. The match is reportedly a brainchild of BCCI Chief and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and will be a part of BCCI’s charity plans and schemes. 
The teams are set, the players are preparing and it is only the schedule that has to stamp finalization of the things for the league now. There is however no change in the franchises this season and the same eight teams that featured in the previous edition of the league will play the 13th edition.

Mumbai Indians :

The most successful team in the history of Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians, ably led by their skipper Rohit Sharma will enter the 13th season of the league as the defending champions. They had defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the nail-biting final match by a margin of 1 run. And when they take on the same CSK in the season opener, Rohit Sharma and Co. will have the slight mental advantage over their arch-rivals and would want to capitalize on it straight away to get to a winning start to the 2020 season.
During the auction, the four-times champions bagged a few useful players in their kitty including the like of Chris Lynn's hard-hitting abilities is expected to boost the team's morale in the power plays. In the bowling department, the team has managed to get Trent Boult in their team who will collaborate with LasithMalinga and Jasprit Bumrah to further strengthen the already strong bowling line-up.

Chennai Super Kings :

The second most successful team of the tournament with three titles in their bag, the side is undoubtedly the most followed team of the league, thanks to the charm of their skipper, one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni. 
CSK lost the final match of the last season by a whisker and had won the 11th season of the tournament in 2018. The team is also the only team of the tournament to qualify for the playoffs of all the seasons of the tournament so far. With many believing this to be the last season for several of its players including skipper Dhoni, CSK will enter the tournament one of the favorites to win the trophy. 
The team retained most of its players ahead of the player’s auction and have added players like Josh Hazlewood, PiyushChawla, Sam Curran and others from auction pool.

Chennai Super Kings ( CSK ) Players List For VIVO IPL 2020

Kolkata Knight Riders : 

The two-time champions KKR has not been up to their mark and potential in the previous few seasons and has lagged behind despite having the firepower in their armory. Heroics of Andre Russell in the previous season were not enough for the team to reach the playoffs and the team once again under the leadership of Dinesh Karthik will hope for better results in the 2020 season. 

The franchise has spent hefty amount to strengthen the bowling department and has managed to get onboard one of the best fast bowlers of the world currently, Pat Cummins. The team has also managed to get Eoin Morgan in the batting unit but released their most successful batsman Robin Uthappa ahead of the auction.

After winning the first edition of the league in 2008, the franchise has never been able to fight their way through the playoffs or finals. With a set of local players and under the leadership of Steve Smith who took over the charge of the skipper from Ajinkya Rahane mid-way into the season, the franchise will hope for a change of fortunes for themselves in the upcoming season.

The franchise will have high expectations from players like David Warner, Skipper Kane Williamson, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan going into the upcoming season of IPL.

One of the three teams of the IPL to have featured in all the seasons of the league but has not had their hands on the trophy. One of the most challenging teams of the tournament RCB is also one of the most followed teams of the league. Led by Indian skipper Virat Kohli the batting lineup of RCB boasts the likes of AB de Villiers and others.
The team has added Aussies skipper Aaron Finch in the squad from the auction pool and would hope to come out on the other side this year.

The team has never had its hand on the coveted IPL trophy although it made to the playoffs of the first two seasons of the league.
